Dyno:
Note: All numbers measured at the wheels in fourth gear unless otherwise noted.
6/6/1999 - Stage 5 mods
- I should have cleaned the air filter before going, but i was in a rush. If you look at the charts/graphs, notice how flat the torque curve is! (if its flat is it really a curve?) Its also making power all the way to 7500 rpm. I was running to 8000, but for some reason the dyno stopped it at 7500..
- Scanned Chart
- Scanned Graph
- Intake Temp: 76.8
- Max Power: 255.6
- Max Torque: 194.0
Mods By Stages:
Note: This is the order i went for modifications.. other
people probably do it differently.
Stage 1
- RM Racing / B&B DTM Exhaust
- Additional HP: 15
- Notes:
- The exhaust note is perfect, and the DTM tips look
great. The quality of the entire system is top notch.. as long as B&B makes a
system for a car i own, thats what will be on it.
Stage 2
- RM Racing billet intake
- Additional HP: 5(?)
- Notes:
- While cleaning the engine, i removed the engine cover..
after i was done it looked so good with the intake installed i left it off.
I can actually feel the difference compared to the stock airbox setup.. i dont
know if it was super dirty or what (i was afraid to look), but with the RM intake
it definitly runs stronger. Above 4500 rpm it wails like an old unix admin at a
MSCE class.
Stage 3
- Gewalt Mesh wheels
- Additional Perceived HP(tm): 50
- Notes:
- 17" front and 18" rear diameters. The front seems to
rub just a tiny bit when turned all the way, but i noticed the air foil stuff
in the wheel well was loose a few weeks ago. Once i tighten it up, it should cure
the rubbing.
Stage 4
- Comptech ride height adjustable/threaded body suspension
package.
- Comptech Rollbar, with removable doorbars.
- Simpson 6 point harness.
- Notes:
- The suspension feels great. Its not as stiff as i
thought it would be, but its on the softest setting. Comptech did a fantastic job
on the install. It looks factory! The stock 3 point belt is still mounted, so i
can use it durring city driving and the harness for track/highspeed stuff. The
rollbar has removable doorbars which is definitly required for a street car.
I drove it home with the doorbars on, and as expected, it was difficult getting in and
out.. but not impossible. (just not something you want to do when you stop to
get gas or some grub. :)
Stage 5
- Japan spec short gears
- RM Clutch
- RM polished aluminum coolant bottle
- RM chin spoiler
- Notes:
- After a giant hasle getting the gears/clutch installed
properly, its finally running again! The gears definitly tighten up the ratio
's, and the clutch actuation is great. The pedal pressure doesnt feel any harder
then the old clutch.. The new spoiler looks great, altho i need to get it color
matched. I bet those coyotees are glad i didnt have it on durring my trip to
willow springs a few weeks back... *grin*
Next:
- This is getting way too expensive, i am now taking donations
for the next round of modifications. Please send inquries too mike@blazen.com..
