Mike's Z Page
News:
1-2-98 - If you need parts off a 90+ TTZ email me. Im parting out my car. If the part is in ok condition ill give you a good deal on it.
12-30-98 - Got the salvage title from the bank for the Z. Its currently over by Dando's, waiting to get the engine cut out.. weeee!
11-12-98 - Im currently looking for a 240Z, if anyone knows were i can find one for cheap please email me. Im going to stuff the motor out of the 300ZXTT into one.. should be a great daily driver. :-)
11-11-98 - Ive been working like a mad dog, and havent had much time to update the page. But ive purchased an Acura NSX to help fill the void of the departed Z. I had Dando's (go to the bottom of this page for their contact info) put on a RM Racing / B&B Exhaust system with dual DTM tips.. ill have some pictures and info up on it this weekend.
9-5-98 - I was in an accident on 8/30/98 and the Z was totaled. If your the morbid type (no, no one was killed), or just want proof of how safe the Z is, check out these pictures. I sustained a head injury that caused me to have surgery, and my left ankle was pretty twisted.. but nothing was broke. I was released from the hospital after 4 days, and have almost fully recovered.. (cept for my head being shaved. :))

- Mods By Stages:
Note: This is the order i went for modifications.. other people probably do it differently.
Stage 1
- Cyclone Stage 3.5 Clutch (ceramic/kevlar)
JWT Single Pop Charger Intake System (replaces factory airbox and element housing)
- Additional HP: 20
- Notes:
- With the new intake, the car seemed to run much stronger over 4500RPM. Its also much more audible then the stock system.. at around 3500RPM under acceleration it will make a slight sound.. which could best be described as a honk. :)
- Stage 2
- JWT ECU Upgrade (remaps fuel curve for higher boost, removes speed limiter, and raises red line 500RPM)
Boost bumped up to 15psi (9.5psi stock)
- Additional HP: 60
- Notes:
- WOW! The first time i took the car out after these modifications, it felt like the first time i drove a TT! The "seat-of-the-pants" speed increase alone was worth the price of admission. :-)
- Stage 3
- B&B TwinTip Exhaust System (Wanna hear it? :-))
SPI Boost gauge mounted on A-Pillar
DP Carrera Cup 3/S Wheels (3 piece, 17x8.5 front, 17x9.5 rear)
- Additional HP: 20
- Notes:
- By now the power was satisfactory (atleast for a few weeks :)), so it was time to go for some coolness factor. The B&B system is very friendly to the eye, but some say a little too loud. I dont find it that loud, except for some annoying resonance at around 2500 rpm at a constant speed. Its nice being able to get the attention of a driver not watching the road ahead by blipping the throttle.. :) 9 on the coolness factor. The boost gauge was mandatory if the boost is increased, since stock gauge only goes up to 14psi and isnt very accurate. The SPI gauge is nice because its very close to the color of the stock gauges, even when lit. One bad thing about the pillar mount, everyone can see it who pulls up next to the driver side. This means that everyone and there mom in a 74 Gremlin will try to race you. 0 on the coolness factor. (10 if its a pretty woman in a sports car who wants to race :)). The wheels rule, it should look better once i install new springs/struts.. since the stockers are wearing out. The rear end *really* sticks now under acceleration.. time for more HP!
- Next:
- Adding more power is gunna take some $$$, since ill have to purchase larger injectors, turbos, intercoolers and a boost controller. That would be around $5k just for parts, if i get a good deal. And i dont even want to think about installation... :)
- If i can hold off for a few months, maybe ill just get a right hand drive skyline.. its been a pain trying to find somone to import one, but i finally found one.
- Misc:
Dando's Automotive in Fremont, CA is the only place my car goes for work.. i made the mistake of taking it to Stevens Creak Nissan for the 60k mile service when i got the car, and im still paying the price for that. Dando's does alot of Z work, the guys are cool and knowledgable. If your in driving distance i suggest giving them a call, their phone number is 510-659-7900 @ 45554 Industrial Place (rite across from the NUMI plant near 880).
For parts, ive had good experiences with PrimeSpeed. You can get in touch with them by visiting their web site, sending email to primespeed@aol.com or calling 781-286-8708.
If you ever see me out cruising around the SF bay area (just look for the dorky looking guy wearing shades, ive only seen one other red TT in CA) make yourself be seen.. honk or wave or something.. :)
